In the lead-up to the elections, on 5-6 May the European Parliament (EP) and the European Commission (EC), in coordination with the European Journalism Centre (EJC), will hold the seminar “2014 European Elections: this time is different” for 120 journalists from the EU-28 Member states.
The event primarily aims to raise awareness of the biggest questions surrounding the 2014 EP elections, and stir debate on the future of the EU.
Jean Claude Trichet, former President of the European Central Bank, will be among the high profile list of speakers. Academia, high officials from the EP and EC, as well as representatives of the EP political groups, will join the various sessions and panel discussions.
Senior and/or political journalists will be given priority and that a quota per nationality will apply based on seat distribution at the EP.
The organisers will cover travel, accommodation and most meals.
The deadline for applications is Friday 11 April.
