This session will equip the participants with practical research tips with case studies and examples from across Europe. The basic tools will be highlighted in order to help them verify social media content across Google. There will be data journalism tools that can help in researching and visualising ideas, including a deep dive on how Google Trends can compliment storytelling. The journalists and students, who attend the trainings, will immerse themselves in virtual reality, explore 360 degree video and see how publishers from around the world are using cutting edge technology (and on a budget). From a breaking news situation to a feature length article – they will learn how Google Maps and Earth Pro images can complement social media posts or add a visual element to their articles. Participants will dive into storytelling with Maps, find examples with StreetView and discover tools where audio brings panoramic images to life.
