The European Journalism Centre, in co-operation with the European Commission’s DG Trade, invites 20 journalists from the EU28 to take stock of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations to date and to assess progress made so far. This high-level event will take place in Brussels on 3 and 4 December 2014, after the seventh round of the negotiations has been concluded in Washington in October 2014. The eighth round of talks is foreseen to take place in Brussels before the end of year.
The journalists will have a unique opportunity to meet all of the central EU actors involved in the TTIP negotiations, including the chief negotiator, Ignacio Garcia-Bercero. The participation of the new EU commissioner for trade is yet to be confirmed. Additionally, the seminar will feature a dinner debate hosted by the German MEP Bernd Lange, the chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade.
