Journalism grants for innovations in development reporting

The European Journalism Centre (EJC) is pleased to announce that it has received financial support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to advance journalistic coverage of issues related to global development and the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals. Therefore, in 2013 the EJC will implement a grants programme supported by the Gates Foundation.
EJC is looking to support projects of great impact and high visibility, applicants must apply for a minimum grant of €8,000. For your reference, we expect the average grant given to be about €20,000. A maximum of 25 to 30 grants will be made available in 2013.
Journalists and relevant media outlets that target audiences in one or more of the eight European countries with the highest net official development assistance are eligible to apply: France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Journalists and media outlets not based in the countries mentioned above, as well as freelancers, are ONLY eligible to apply as cooperation partners of admissible organisations.
The deadline to submit your story pitch is 25 March 2013. he first grants awarded will be announced in May 2013. Two more selection rounds will be run in the second half of 2013. More information about the application procedures you can find here.
