Apply to report on the alternative youth of Hungary

Cafébabel, the young multilingual European magazine, is looking for journalists willing to travel to Budapest. This is the first station of their new report series “EU too, meeting the disenchanted youth of Europe”.

Apply here for “EU too”.

The magazine is looking for two print journalists, a photographer and a video journalist to find out about the young Hungarians who are discontent with the status quo. How do they feel about the society? Which changes to they want to see? Why don’t they feel satisfied now and what are their alternatives and perspectives?
This task does not only require journalistic skills, but first of all a good feel for dealing with people and sensitive topics – and creativity. That is why Cafébabel calls upon European journalists under 35 to hand in three proposals for articles and potential interviewees for the trip to Budapest. Facts and figures are important, but what counts is creativity and the personal point of view. The chosen candidates will be accompanied by Cafébabel editor Viral Shah and will be supported by the local “babelians”. Travel, accommodation and catering costs will be reimbursed.
The deadline to apply for the trip to Budapest is August 25, 2015.
The project will be continuing until spring 2016. Besides Budapest,  journalists will be visiting Madrid, Krakow, Copenhagen, London, Athens and Berlin. Calls for application for other cities will be posted on the Cafébabel-website.
