The international human rights NGO Freedom House published its annual Freedom of the Press Index for 2010, which analyses the trends and problems with the freedom of expression in 196 countries in 2009. The experts clasify 69 (35%) of the examined countries as ”free”; 64 of them (33%) as ”partialy free”, and 63 (32%) as ”not free”.

According to the criteria of the survey, Bulgaria shares 76th place in the chart with India, as both countries have Freedom of the Press Index of 36 points. It is noted that there is still pressure on the Bulgarian journalists by economical, political and criminal interests.
