This year the fellowship will be awarded in the spirit of James Foley, the American freelance reporter who was murdered by ISIS in 2014. <!--more--><br \/>\nProposed stories should cover themes that often are unreported such as life, education and culture in the region. Candidates are encouraged to take inspiration from Foley\u2019s approach, which included a sense of caring about young people that coursed through his reporting and his life. Proposals can also honor Foley&#8217;s love of fiction and poetry.<br \/>\nTo apply, send a cover letter, resume, a project proposal with a budget not exceeding US$10,000, three work samples and three references to GroundTruth managing editor Kevin Grant at kgrant [at] thegroundtruthproject.org.
